January started and finished mild, but 6^th to 20^th was cooler than normal, overall the mean temperature was exectly normal.  The coldest night was –7.1C on 18^th, mildest day was 13.6C on 23^rd.
10 nights had air frosts, 18 ground frosts both close to the median of last 69 years.
The only significant rainfal was on 2^nd – 3rd (33mm), and 21^st  (19mm), accounting for most of the rainfall for the month, while 4^th to 20^th was essentially dry.
Windiest days were 20^th to 26^th, when storms ISHA and JOCELYN passed by.

Overall a drier than usual January, temperature statistically normal, but mild then cold then mild again. A windy end to the month, rainfall mostly falling on 3 days, dry and cold for half the month between 7^th and 20^th .

February has been the mildest one in 69 years of records here. Mean and MeanMin were both record highs, MeanMax was 3^rd highest. Most of the first 21 days in the month enjoyed well above the normal Mean temperatures, but fell to normal levels from 22^nd.
Rainfall was 228% of normal and spread over the month, so already saturated ground has not recovered yet. The 9 very wet days ranked 4^th greatest on record.
A windy month, especially around 5^th -6^th  and 21^st .

SEASONAL REPORT FOR WINTER  (Dec2023, Jan2024, Feb2024)

A mild Winter with mean temperature 1.5 deg above normal, Dec and Feb contributing most to this. Rainfall was 160% of normal, Dec and Feb being very wet.. The ground here is very saturated indeed because of the rainfall, and some plants are bursting into flower prematurely with the mild February temperatures.

Comparing Winters over the last 30 year period, and over the last 69 years, the more recent period shows Mean, MeanMax and MeanMin about 0.4 degrees higher than the longer period. Comparing Spring in the same way shows an increase of about 0,7 degrees, Summer about 0.7 degrees and Autumn about 0.3 degrees higher. Rainfall also is greater in the recent period, 2% more in Winter and Spring, but 5% more in Summer and 8% in the Autumn.

March had few cool days so the MeanMin temp was the 3^rd mildest in 69 years here, and the Mean temp was +1.2 deg above normal. The start of the month was below average temps but the rest was above average, the warmest days were 17-19 reaching 15.8C.

Another wet month, with most falling 26-28, 9-12, and 1. Monthly rainfall was 6^th highest, following last March's 2^nd highest on record here. Raindays were 2^nd highest , wet and very wet days 4^th highest on record for March. Ground at this site with clay below the surface remains saturated.
