The 4^th warmest July in 59 years here (2013 ranked 3^rd). Mean temperature 18.7C (+1.8C). Particularly warm from 17^th-to 26^th, reaching over 26C most days.  Many good bright sunny days, and long sunny periods, and 0900 cloud cover quite low at 35%.

Although there were few days with rain, the heavy rainfall 18^thto 19^th contributed 57mm to the month’s 84mm total. On 18^th, 36.5mm was recorded, making it the 25^th wettest single day in 21400 days (59 years), so in the top 0.12%.  The only other period with rain was 4^th to 8^th.

Thunder was heard on 4 days, with heavy rain at 1710 on 6^th, rain on 8^th when rumbles from the storms in North Birmingham were heard. At 2345 on 18^th, lightning was seen, and thunderstorms followed between 0200 and 0500 on 19^th, with heavy rain, torrential at times, falling between 0200 and 0800, delivering most of the month’s rainfall.

Cumulative rainfall Jan to July (7 months) for this year is now 727mm, the highest on record for these 7 months, and already exceeds the annual rainfall for 21 of those 59 years.

The coolest August since 1992 with temperatures 1.1C below normal. Another wet month, the 10th wettest in 59 years, and having the 8th highest number of raindays. 30mm of rain fell on 25th.

Another month with above average temperatures, +1.7C anomaly, and warmest Oct 30^th and 31^st in 58 years records here, breaking the previous 1970 record, and topping 20C on 31^st.  The month’s mean temperature was the 9^th highest.  A very warm start and finish to the month.
Rainfall of 125mm was the 7^th highest for October, with 38mm falling on 13^th. The cumulative total Jan-Oct (10 months) is now 988mm, the highest on record, and already exceeding all but 4 year’s annual totals.
