January statistically was a little cooler and a little wetter than normal.
However it experienced quite mild temperatures 6th -10th, and at the end of the month, but very cold 5th-6th and 24th-28th. It was also very wet at times, 14th-16th and 27th onwards, but virtually dry 17th-26th.
With pressure remaining high throughout most of the month, the 6th highest mean pressure was recorded.
Quite breezy at times, especially 11th-13th.
Air frosts 2nd-6th, 13th, 20th-27th.
So in reality it was mixed. It certainly felt pleasantly mild almost springlike at times, but bitterly cold feel at others especially with the wind. But averaged out, no monthly records were broken, most parameters ranking midway in the 62 years of records held here.
